Water shut-offs for non-payment of utilities and late fees has been suspended since March 4th, 2020 to assist customers with the negative financial impact related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The City of Portola will be resuming water shutoffs, as well as penalties for all late payments and outstanding balances beginning April 2023. All past due balances that are more than 60 days delinquent! need to be paid or a payment plan arranged to avoid shut-off.
The City of Portola understands that many residents are experiencing financial challenges as a result of the pandemic. The City of Portola is offering flexible payment arrangements to help residents avoid water shut-offs. If you have any questions, or to review payment plan options please contact 530-832-4216.
You must Contact The City of Portola by March 15th, 2023, to set up any necessary payment plans.
If you need assistance paying down any water-specific debt, you may be eligible for certain state or federal assistance programs. One of those programs is the Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP), which will be administered through the California Department of Community Services and Development.
